Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask about running redirects, the DNS hosting addon, billing, and privacy. Can't find your answer? Contact us.
The basics
What is URLPATH.Cloud?
A hosted domain-redirect and link-management platform. Point any domain or URL path at any destination and manage everything from one dashboard: full-domain redirects, URL and path redirects, branded short links, link-in-bio pages, and for-sale pages -- with click analytics, QR codes, and country/device routing built in.
Do I need to install anything on my server?
No. Add your domain in the dashboard and point its DNS records at the addresses we show you -- we run everything else. There is no software to install or maintain.
How fast do changes take effect?
Redirect changes (destinations, routing rules, schedules) apply immediately. DNS record changes can take a few minutes to appear worldwide.
Team accounts
Do domains belong to me or to my account?
To your account. Your personal account was created automatically at signup, and everything you add lives in it. People you invite work in that account alongside you.
How do I give a teammate access?
Open Account & team in the sidebar and send an invite to their email with one of four roles: owner (everything, including account details), admin (also manages members), member (manages domains and redirects), or viewer (read-only). They get an email with an accept link.
Can I have more than one account?
You can be linked to several -- your own plus accounts other owners invite you into. The sidebar shows a "Working in" switcher, and everything you add lands in the account you're currently working in.
Whose plan covers a team account?
The account owner's. Domains and redirects in a team account count against the owner's plan limits no matter which member created them -- so a teammate without their own subscription can still work in your account.
What happens if I remove someone from the account?
They immediately lose access to its domains and redirects, and everything they built stays with the account. Their own personal account is untouched. The last owner of an account can never be removed.
Redirects
Which redirect types are supported?
Full-domain redirects (every path forwarded), URL and path redirects, branded short links on your own domain, plus two ready-made page types: Bio pages and For Sale pages -- each with your own SEO title, description, and social image.
Can I send visitors different places by country or device?
Yes. Every redirect can carry country and device rules (for example: mobile visitors go to the app store, everyone else to the website), with a fallback destination for everything that doesn't match.
Can I keep a second domain in sync with my main one?
Yes. Link a domain to a parent and it serves the parent's redirects live, with its own redirects taking priority -- useful for typo and alternate TLD domains.
DNS hosting addon
What is the DNS hosting addon?
An optional addon that moves your domain's DNS hosting onto our anycast nameservers. You get full self-service record management and email forwarding right inside the dashboard, on top of your redirects.
Which nameservers do I set for DNS hosting?
Point your domain at the branded nameservers: ns5.urlpath.cloud, ns6.urlpath.cloud, ns7.urlpath.cloud and ns8.urlpath.cloud. The dashboard also lists these in the DNS manager for each enabled domain.
Which record types can I manage?
A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, CAA and SRV. The few records your redirect service needs (the A/AAAA records on the root and www) are marked as required and protected so they can't be broken by accident.
Does DNS hosting include email forwarding?
Yes. Forward any mailbox on your domain to a real inbox -- for example info@yourdomain.com to your personal email. Use @ as the mailbox for a catch-all that collects every address nothing else claims.
What are the DNS hosting plan limits?
Starter: 5 zones, up to 50 records per zone, 1 email forward per zone. Pro: 25 zones, 500 records, 2 forwards. Agency: 100 zones, 2,000 records, 3 forwards. See the pricing page for details.
Do I have to use DNS hosting?
No -- it's optional. The core redirect service only needs your domain's A/AAAA records pointed at our nodes. DNS hosting is for customers who want to manage all their records and email forwarding in one place.
Billing and plans
How does billing work?
The main platform plans and the DNS hosting addon are separate subscriptions, billed through Stripe with major credit cards. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from your dashboard at any time.
How much does DNS hosting cost?
Flat monthly plans: Starter is $1.00/month (5 zones), Pro is $3.00/month (25 zones), and Agency is $10.00/month (100 zones) -- records and email forwards included per zone. See the pricing page for the full breakdown.
What happens if I cancel?
Your redirects keep working until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. Disabling the DNS hosting addon stops the DNS manager access; the hosted zone itself is kept in case you return.
API, teams and privacy
Is there an API?
Yes -- a REST API with bearer tokens covering redirects, domains, stats, routing rules, QR codes, and bulk creation. Tokens can be read-only or full-access, and the full reference lives inside your dashboard under My Profile.
Can my team work together?
Yes. Organize domains and redirects into projects, invite staff with per-project permissions you control, and hand over ownership with transfers when roles change.
What click data do you store?
Click counts, referrers, countries and device types for analytics. IP addresses are anonymized before storage -- see the privacy policy for the details.
How do I report abuse of your service?
Email abuse@urlpath.cloud -- a monitored mailbox handled by our team. We take phishing and malware reports seriously and act on them quickly.
